St. Kitts "Valley of the Giants" Rainforest and Garden Tour

Come stretch your legs in the enchanting world of our islands' "pest-free" leeward coast rainforest while hiking the looped trails of a beautiful "Valley of Giants", and visit as well, the nearby, Batik Factory at the historic Romney Manor, with its resplendent terraced gardens, complete with a 350 year old tree and an ancient, slave bell tower.

Firstly, we will collect you from your ship or hotel with our specially modified 4X4 Land Rovers and after leaving Basseterre, travel out along the scenic Leeward Coast Road for about 6 miles or twenty minutes

Then at Wingfield Estate we turn inland to visit the manicured gardens and Batik Factory of the Romney Manor, a 350 year old Sugar Plantation Great House, situated on a Bluff that overlooks the beautiful Caribbean Sea.   Here you can shop for colorful, hand made Batik in the restored Plantation Home (once the home to the great-great-great Grandfather of the President of the United States, Thomas Jefferson) and then enjoy a walkabout of its' stunningly beautiful, landscaped gardens.

Following a 30 min. stop at the Romney Gardens and Batik Factory, we then take you into a lushly forested valley nearby, where, with our professionally trained local guide, you will be given an information filled walking tour, that follows a specially looped, hiking trail.

With walking sticks in hand as you go, there will be frequent stops to rest and and for you to enjoy this stunning protected Ecosystem where giant trees tower above the spring fed, Wingfield River.

Initially you will be guided along the banks of the Wingfield River, where cheeky Monkeys jump overhead, from branch to branch and colorful Hummingbirds fleet around, from flower to flower.    Then about 45 min into your walk along the valley floor, we climb up to the top of the forested ridge that overlooks it,  and follow a looped trail back to our starting point, that never repeats the one used on the way out.
